David C. Brunell

The Proactive Attorney

I grew up in Dearborn Heights, Michigan in a blue-collar family, with football and wrestling
shaping my early years. After graduating from Annapolis High School in 1979, I earned a
Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University in 1984 and a Juris Doctor from Detroit
College of Law in 1987. I was licensed to practice law in Michigan in 1988.

Over nearly 30 years as an attorney in Southeast Michigan, I’ve focused on client education,
proactive legal planning, and a unique, comprehensive system for estate and legal-life care
planning. I specialize in firearms law and self-defense, offering legal education tailored to
civilian gun carriers, including the development of the Aftermath app—a mini-course on
what every gun owner should know before carrying in public.

Through my law firm, I’ve served individuals, families, caregivers, gun owners, and
professionals with a commitment to organization, education, and preparation. I frequently
present workshops on estate planning, caregiving, and legal self-defense, helping clients
proactively manage life’s legal challenges.

Guiding Principles:

Educate clients.

Promote organization and preparation.

Focus on protection and peace of mind.

Empower clients through proactive legal planning.
